Raspberry Pi 4 Model B is a compact Linux-capable single-board computer for embedded systems, gateways, test stations, media projects and development work. Select the required memory capacity for the intended operating system, workload and connected peripherals.

Select the RAM capacity

• RPI 4B-1GB, RPI 4B-2GB, RPI 4B-4GB and RPI 4B-8GB use the same Raspberry Pi 4 Model B platform with different LPDDR4 memory capacities.
• Choose 1GB or 2GB for lighter controller, gateway and single-purpose projects; choose 4GB or 8GB when running a fuller desktop, several services, larger builds or more demanding workloads.

Setup recommendations

• Use a quality USB-C power supply rated for the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B. A 15W USB-C supply is recommended for typical use, especially when USB peripherals are attached.
• Install a supported operating system on a suitable microSD card before first boot.
• For sustained CPU load, use a case with ventilation or suitable cooling to manage operating temperature.
• Check connector requirements before ordering accessories: Raspberry Pi 4 uses micro-HDMI, USB-C power and the standard 40-pin GPIO header.
